Father rapes, impreg­nates daugh­ter

A man from Waterfalls, Harare, has appeared in court accused of repeatedly raping his 15-year-old daughter, reportedly resulting in her pregnancy.

The accused was brought before Harare Regional Magistrate Sandra Mupindu yesterday and was not asked to plead during the brief appearance.

According to the prosecution, the alleged abuse began in September last year after the complainant's mother separated from her husband and moved out of the family home. On October 1, the father allegedly returned from work, found his daughter asleep in her bedroom, and raped her.

The court heard that the assaults allegedly continued on multiple occasions thereafter. The matter came to light earlier this month when the teenager's pregnancy was discovered.

The case has been remanded while investigations continue.
