Artisanal miner attempts to kill colleague over one dollar

A Bindura artisanal miner is battling for his life after he was stabbed in the back during a dispute over a US$1 debt.
The victim, Josiah Mufandaedza, was allegedly stabbed with a pair of shears by Kasikanje Kamunjuze at Chingore claim in Bindura.
The matter came to light at the Bindura Magistrates Court yesterday, where Kamunjuze was sentenced to five years' imprisonment by magistrate Elisha Singano.
Prosecutor Edward Katsvairo told the court that on 10 February, Mufandaedza demanded repayment of the dollar owed to him by Kamunjuze. The accused became angry and stabbed his colleague in the back.
Mufandaedza was rushed to hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment.
