Three armed robbers arrested

Police in Mashonaland West have arrested three armed robbers who ambushed a gold dealer and left him for dead after robbing him of the precious mineral worth $2 500.
Provincial police spokesperson Inspector Clemence Mabgweazara confirmed the incident which occurred at Plot 31 Grandeur Farm, Venice, Battlefields.
Police identified the suspects as Paul Mavhura (25), Talkmore Mamvura (29) and Future Mpofu (43).
Circumstances are that on the fateful day, the armed robbers, who were wearing masks proceeded to a house belonging to Khumbula Dube (33) who is employed at Oaklands Mine, Battlefields.
The trio was armed with machetes and a CZ pistol.
Upon arrival at the house, the gang went to a Granvia vehicle in which the complainant was sleeping and knocked on the door.
Complainant reportedly opened the door and one of the accused pointed the firearm at him, ordering him to disembark.
They force-marched the complainant into the house where his workmates, Tichaona Shamu (38) and Remind Jolo (26) were sleeping.
The armed men then ordered their captives to sit down before demanding cash and other valuables from them.
Dube tried to resist, but was struck once in the head with a machete while one pointed the gun at him.
A subdued Dube then rushed to the car where he took 73, 6 grammes of gold valued at $2 500 and surrendered it to the accused who immediately fled the scene.
The matter was reported at Battlefields police who attended the scene leading to the arrest of Mavhura and Mamvura who later implicated accused three, Mpofu.
The gold and CZ pistol were later recovered from the suspects.
Investigations are still in progress.
