Plumtree, Mazowe landline telephone number format to change next week

TelOne advised its clients and stakeholders that it has digitalised the Plumtree and Mazowe Exchanges. Landline number for the towns will therefore be changed to include a four (4) digit prefix after the area code with effect from 23 March 2015.

TelOne claims that this change will introduce new and exciting services for Plumtree and Mazowe residents. These include prepaid voice, video and audio conferencing, interactive video response services (IVR) and Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) Broadband.

The telephone dialing tone is expected to change from the usual high pitched continuous tone to a low pitched discrete tone. Clients may experience a service disruption on 21 and 22 March 2015 as a result of the changeover process.

Plumtree
The current 4 digits number length for Plumtree will change to a new 7 digit numbering length with the first number being dropped and replaced with 2805. The Plumtree area code will also change to from (019) to (0219).

For example
2200 becomes 2805200. If the caller is within Plumtree, simply dial 2805 xxx (last 3 digits of the current number). When making a call to a Plumtree number dial 0219 2805 xxx (last 3 digits of current number).

Mazowe

The current 4 digits number length for Mazowe will change to a new 7 digit numbering length with the first number being dropped and replaced with 2195. Numbers from 2205 - 2999 will now use 2195 xxx (last 3 digits of the current number). The area code still remains 0275.

For example

If the Mazowe number is currently 2205 the new number will be 2195205. When one is dialing a call to a Mazowe number simply dial 0275 2195 xxx (last 3 digits of the current number).
