MDC Bulawayo Senator Tholakele Khumalo has said the economic growth projections always mentioned by President Robert Mugabe and his Finance Minister Patrick Chinamsa was just a myth which has no possibility to be proved.

Making presentation in parliament, Khumalo said t he global economic growth is projected at 3.1%, southern Africa is projected at 3.8% and yet Zimbabwe according to minister Chinamasa is projected to grow at a mere 1.5%.

"This is an indictment on the part of President Mugabe and his Zanu PF  government," she said.

"The 1.5% growth is disputed by leading economist as they believe economic growth this year will not surpass 1% and in fact they state that 0.75% is the best that we can get."

Khumalo said the projection of 2.7% in 2016 is a fallacy and a joke just as the so called Zimasset.

"There are no prospects for economic growth where there is no clear path for tomorrow given that the president turns 92 shortly," she said.

"There can't be economic growth when a first lady thinks that she is second in command and senior than even the deputy presidents and says a special wheel chair will be given to  Mugabe to rule from."

Khumalo said there cannot be economic growth when ministers spend most of their time on factional fights rather than economic developments.

"There cannot be economic growth where there is policy inconsistency for example the minister of finance position on bonus was overturned by the president," Khumalo said.

"The newly appointed minister of youth and indigenization sings from a different book from the minister of finance... it means things are falling apart and the country mirrors the decay in Zanu PF."
