A political commentator Trynald Mubayi Sangoā€ˇ has questioned if President Robert Mugabe's rule was under threat to a point when the Zanu PF youth had to organise a one million march to show solidarity to his leadership.
The Zanu PF youth conducted a one million march in Harare amid criticism that they were supposed to march calling for the creation of jobs and revival of the economy as most of them were unemployed as suffering due to the misrule by the same 92 year old leader.
"My problem with some of our leaders is point blank sparkling clear," Sango said. "You want to show Mugabe chibaba that he still has support from the masses. That is not a bad thing at all. You want to reaffirm support for the revolutionary icon. Ok not bad. You want to point clear that Mugabe is the sole candidate for 2018......Here is where i start to wonder WHY...Is n't it too early to speak of 2018? We still have 2016 and 2017 National Peoples Conferences to speak of. Is his position in any sense under threat?"
Sango said he thought democracy per 1979 agreement was every position including his was up for challenge and it was Democratic and not treason.
"If you succeed to show Mugabe that he has numbers by whipping vendors and mapostori to the march then indeed the party is under threat as you would have done so for show/TV," he said.
"Its no different from confiscating mabhero saying they are illegal and then redistributing them at a rally later and re-confiscating them two days later.
Mirai panzvimbo one and show your true colours. Whipping people to rallies wont whip them to vote for you. I believe it is the electorate that requires to be Reaffirmed not Mugabe."
He said they reaffirm the electorate and in turn they reaffirm themselves.
"Provide housing, land title, better investment laws, jobs and stop stealing our money and replacing it with bond papers and surely u wont have to force march people to rallies," he said.
