The MDC national leadership, led by President, Prof Welshman Ncube has embarked on a nationwide outreach to meet, consult and update provincial structures on the negotiations towards re-unification with the MDC Renewal and the broader coalition of democrats initiative, among other issues.
This follows the first joint National executive committee meeting of the two partyes having sighed a Memorandum of Understanding in September which set out the parameters for reunification negotiations towards a complete and total reunification.
The program is being rolled out throughout the provinces. The leadership has already met with Bulawayo, Chitungwiza and Harare provincial structures, which have expressed satisfaction with the briefings and urged the expeditious conclusion of the talks.
While meeting the Masvingo provincial structures yesterday, Prof. Ncube bemoaned the failure of Zanu PF to deliver on virtually all its election promises while being totally consumed by its internal succession and factional wars. He noted that the economy of the country was on auto pilot and headed for a free fall as a result of Zanu PF's dereliction of duty. Prof. Ncube emphasised that the reunification of the two MDCs would result in the consolidation of skill, energy and resolve for the purpose of creating solutions for the economic upliftment of Zimbabwe .
He also pointed out that the united MDCs would continue to actively engage with other like -minded democrats who include Zapu, MKD and NCA, Zimbawean diaspora community, professionals, civil society and churches for the purposes of forming a broader coalition of democrats.
