IN a typical Egyptian mummification process, a granny from Nkayi reportedly beat the Pharaohs at their game when a two-year old corpse was found in her maize granary.
Circumstances surrounding the bizarre incident are that in 2013, villagers from Nkayi found an unidentified mutilated body in the thickest of the forest.
Suspecting foul play and acts of witchcraft, the villagers reportedly burnt the body as a precautionary measure.
The body however, resurfaced two years later, at a granary in the homestead of a lady only identified as MaNkomo.
This raised suspicions that MaNkomo and her cult were using the body for ritual and other witchcraft errands, as the body had no tongue and private parts.
One of the villagers identified as Lizwe Phuthi who was there when the body was found told umthunywa that he is yet to come to terms with the incident.
"This is a very scary incident, it actual substantiates that there are many things like this happening. All along we thought that this child was resting in peace only to learn today that the body was being used for witchcraft.
"Everyone was there when the body was discovered, MaNkomo agreed that they used the body to strengthen their witchcraft circle so that they could do their 'things' without being caught," he said.
Another villager Sethulo Ndaba, who was there when the body was removed from the granary said:
"I am still confused, up to now I can't come to terms with what happened. When I saw the body being removed from the granary without a tongue I was surprised. MaNkomo did not even try denying the incident, she actually admitted that there were other people involved," she said.
The accused, MaNkomo, when reached for comment said people were lying.
"I went to the prophets but these allegations that I was keeping a fresh body in my granary are pure lies. I know that there was a child who was found dead two years ago, but I had nothing to do with that," she said.
