Good morning Brethren

TODAY'S WORD

Luke 13:9 And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.

Brethren, may l take this opportunity to tell you that, you have been called, not to sitting ministries, rather to be co-labourers with Christ. For religion does not consist in works, but religion works, it is not dormant.

In today's verse we find the issue of grace, well illustrated. God gave us different talents so that we can use them to carry on his ministry. It is then mandatory for us to bear fruits thereof. Lest the owner of the farm( God) conclude to cut it down (why cumber it the ground) but we see the issue of grace coming into play. The  dresser of the vineyard (Christ whom Hebrews says is our advocate) then appeals on our behalf, that we be given a grace period, where we will be taken care of, pruned and cultivated so that we bear fruits that befits repentance. See also Galatians 5:22-23.

Brethren , for long we have been cultivated by the word of God so that we can bear fruits. Now is the season to produce, lest we exceed the limits of grace.

As you receive the Spirit of Christ, the Spirit of unselfish love and labour for others, you will grow and bring forth fruit. The graces of the Spirit will ripen in your Character. Your faith will increase, your convictions deepen, your love be made perfect. More and more you will reflect the likeness of Christ in all its pure, noble, and lovely.

If you take a close look at the verse, the warning sounds down along the line to us in this generation. Are you, O careless heart, a fruitless tree in the Lord's vineyard? Shall the words of doom erelong be spoken of you? How long have you receives His gifts? You have taken the name of Christ and became Christian, you are outwardly a member of the Church which is His body, however the sweet graces of His Character, "the fruits of the Spirit"  are not seen in your life.
