The Grand plan, gukurahundi, the Unity Accord 1987 - A program of invasion
12 Jul 2019 at 10:14hrs | Views
This is a follow up of my Press Release released on 3rd July 2019. The focus today is Gukurahundi; its origins, meaning, and its role in the unprecedented influx of the Shona community in every part of the Kingdom of Mthwakazi alias Matabeleland and the reason for their dominant attitude.
Clarifications
The Mthwakazi Kingdom is an Inter-Cultural Society which is made up of basically most of the people groups in Southern Africa and further; and that includes many Shona people. I am aware that the name Mthwakazi is misconstrued in many circles as representing a counter tribalism project of the Ndebele against the Shona because of how the latter have badly treated the former. There is also enough political spin to direct perceptions that way. But the truth however is that Mthwakazi is the name given by King Mzilikazi to this "Great Collection of Beautiful Peoples" uM'buthwakazi oMuhle. It is the name of his Kingdom.
There may also be several political pressure groups or civic organisations who rightly may go by the name "Mthwakazi". As the Kingdom of Matabeleland we owe our gratitude to these activist groups for refusing to allow our identity and to some extent our restoration agenda to die. As for me I have no political ambitions whatsoever. I am not a member of any political organisation or civic group. I am not a clan or tribal leader. I am the King over the Kingdom of this "Great Collection of Beautiful People" uMthwakazi omuhle, oNdlela zimhlophe. My focus is the full restoration of my Kingdom whose "sovereignty was illegally broken up" by the British Crown in November 1893. My focus is to free my people from this slavery. I am not a leader of a group and I am not "recruiting political supporters". I am the servant leader of my whole nation.
The Grand Plan
At this juncture I would like to make a submission that the Grand Plan which first surfaced in 1979 is very authentic. It is what made the formation of Zanu in 1963 necessary and that Zanu is a strategy of that Grand Plan. I also submit that the Gukurahundi column was not a "moment of madness" but an execution of an old well-orchestrated plan and that the so-called "Unity Accord" of 1987 was also part of the strategy within the Grand Plan intended to politically sanitize the wicked plan and make the invasion of the Kingdom of Mthwakazi "politically correct". I submit that Zimbabwe, a British Trustee, rules Matabeleland also under its own "rule by conquest" through its Grand Plans. The Constitution of Zimbabwe is never applied in Matabeleland and its peoples, it is the Gran Plans they use to harass, persecute, intimidate and murder us. If in doubt, I refer you to Gukurahundi. I further submit that the purpose of Gukurahundi, just like that of the White Settlers expressed in the Victoria Agreement was to murder the Ndebele people, displace them and loot their land. The West German ambassador to Zimbabwe, Richard Ellerkmann, thought it 'ominous' that 'Mugabe, in his latest speech in Manicaland, had used the Shona equivalent of "wipe out" with reference to the Ndebele people, not just ZAPU people… However 'most poignant for Ellerkmann was the remark of a German Jewish refugee in Bulawayo who said the situation reminded him of how the Nazis treated Jews in the Thirties'. Hazel Cameron 2017, "Britain's wilful blindness." I also submit that the "dissident" story was a fabrication and a creation to justify the invasion just as the story of the White Settlers invading the Kingdom of Matabeleland and murdering people in the name of "protecting" the Shona people against Ndebele was also a fabrication. No wonder after such an aggressive war against "dissidents" and tens of thousands of lives lost, not a single "dissident" was brought to book. A blanket amnesty was summarily "given" to all perpetrators. Forgiveness is very much unlike Zanu.
The Origins
Sometime around the 50's going into the early 60's, an "elite Shona" movement was started by a small group of Shona speaking individuals. The group was made up of some "educated" young man and some business man. According to one insider, some "veteran" chief was the "god –father" of the movement. The sole purpose of this group was to create a Shona Tribal Superiority Agenda in other words, "to create tribalism". The strategy was to build a "Shona Political kingdom". The Grand Plan was crafted then as the guiding principles of the Agenda. Now it became necessary for these individuals to defect from ZAPU and form a counter organisation. The new organisation was to be as much as possible exclusively Shona in order to safely push this "secret" super tribe agenda. The original name of the organisation was "Sons of Chaminuka Movement". That day Zanu was born. Any outsider who joined the organisation suspecting it to be a genuine liberation movement would never be made privy to the insider information and strategies. The proponents of the grand plan began to implement it in Matabeleland, mainly in Bulawayo and many unsuspecting Ndebele girls, especially those in programs of study fell victim to this evil program. (The 1979 Grand Plan). According to the insider, this agenda is not a Shona agenda and I agree. It was foreign sponsored.
The Characteristics of the "super/first race" or tribe Delusionary
The "super/first race" mentality is nothing new. Some well know names or systems come to mind namely; Cecil John Rhodes, Adolf Hitler, the proponents of the Apartheid system in South Africa, to name a few. I also want to submit here that Zanu and its other related organisations be they political or otherwise, very much belong to the above.
The following statement was googled from the internet and it briefly outlines Cecil John Rhodes' mind set: "One of Rhodes's primary motivations in politics and business was his professed belief that the Anglo-Saxon race was, to quote his will, "the first race in the world"…. describing the country's native black population as largely "in a state of barbarism", he advocated their governance as a "subject race", and was at the centre of actions to marginalise them politically—". Needless to say that the same goes for Adolf Hitler as well as to the proponents of Apartheid. Driven by his cold hearted attitude and fierce hatred for the Jews, Hitler committed mass murders of 6 000 000 of them, torturing them in gas chambers, displacing millions more. He also initiated a world war. I want to submit that Zanu Gukurahundi leadership belongs to this league.
The 1979 Grand Plan
The 1979 Grand Plan with its recurrent reviews has been dismissed in the Zanu quarters as a non-official and non-authentic document. However the document has a targeted audience, "Abo vanoziva Gwara. vasingazivi ngavadzidziswe" (those who are in the know; the ignorant must be schooled). All having been said, the evidence on the ground speaks much louder in support of the authenticity of this plan and its recurrent reviews such that ignoring it would constitute foolishness as well as negligence on our part as the Inter-Cultural Society of the Kingdom of Mthwakazi. Based on my submissions and my observations, I will move on to quote some excerpts from one of the Reviews;
"We now have a Shona dominated banking sector which used to be a preserve of foreigners and there is no doubt that this development is pivotal to the indigenisation process. Despite serving everyone, regardless of race, colour, creed, tribe, these banks have fulfilled their role in our struggle for Shona dominance and therefore would like to congratulate………..Shonas from Bulawayo, have taken over large properties in the same area, thanks to these banks and A2 Resettlement. More and more large properties (farms) in Matabeleland, especially Nyamandlovu, have fallen into Shona hands under the A2 Fast Track Resettlement. Shona workers are employed in these farms. One must be a fool to fail to realise such political astuteness on the part of our leader. Most of those who are ungrateful to Zanu for these are ignorant of the fact that the 1979 Grand Plan intended to facilitate funding for budding Shona business enterprises in farming, the hotel industry, the purchase of large industrial complexes being sold by migrating former Rhodesians such as G & D in Bulawayo. We must appreciate that wherever these banks occur in the country, 100% of the staff will be Shona".
"Shona supremacy is not a dream but a reality. Ask yourself whether you could be where you are were it not for Mugabe and Zanu – educationally, politically, economically, etc. ………. The party will continue to use Nkomo's fighters to further the cause but we must know when and how to dump them so that their presence within our ranks does not unmake our victories in the area of marginalising them. Fortunately, most of them are not intellectually gifted enough to suspect that we are still guided by the 1979 Grand Plan".
"Zanu's moto was "A fight for Shona Majority Rule"
DISSIDENTS
"on the other hand, R.G. created a small rebel force comprising mainly from Zipra and called them dissidents who were complimented by selected highly trained Zanla forces who would direct operations. The group was put on pay role and then deployed in the Midlands and Matabeleland"
"We must not forget what Nathan Shamuyarira once observed in the 1979 Grand Plan, "The only way to weaken the Ndebele is deprive him of education".
"Their days are certainly numbered as the 4th chimurenga will leave no stone unturned, even religious stones will roll."
"We realise that the majority of Ndebele people still idolise Joshua Nkomo who gave Matabeleland to us."
The Gukurahundi
The following are quotations from Hazel Cameron's research work titled, "The Matabeleland massacres: Britain's wilful blindness". This is a 36 page document. I have taken, but very few of her quotations. What stands out clearly is that Gukurahundi was indeed a Zimbabwe Government policy and it still continues to this day.
Hazel Cameron truthfully states that: "Thousands more were beaten, tortured and raped. The arbitrary arrests, detentions without charge, torture, summary executions and rape, suffered by the Ndebele, created an atmosphere of fear and mistrust, which persists to this day between the people of Matabeleland and the Government of Zimbabwe".
"There can be no doubt that Gukurahundi was Zimbabwean government policy. On 7 March 1983 Roland 'Tiny' Rowland, a British businessman and chief executive of the Lonrho conglomerate with heavy economic commitments in Zimbabwe, met with Mugabe and then subsequently reported to the American ambassador in Harare that he was absolutely convinced that Mugabe was 'fully aware of what is happening in Matabeleland and it is Government policy. Mnangagwa [sic] [Secretary of State for Security Mnangagwa] is fully aware and he was in the meeting when they discussed the situation in detail. Tiny described Mugabe as blunt and unyielding". Mr Mnangagwa is the current President of the Republic of Zimbabwe after taking over from Mr Mugabe.
"From the outset, it was clear that Fifth Brigade were not interested in seeking out dissidents and that their actual target was the civilian Ndebele population. Indeed, US Secretary of State George Shultz noted 'the Fifth Brigade military operations in Matabeleland have succeeded in terrorizing, intimidating and alienating the people of Matabeleland, but have had little if any impact – on dissident activitieS"
"The chiShona-speaking Fifth Brigade repeatedly used a blatantly tribal and political discourse, and, in the execution of their extreme violence, appeared to be militarily unmotivated".
"Members of the unit told locals that they had been ordered to 'wipe out the people [Ndebele] in the area' and to 'kill anything that was human".
"Of significance, Shultz also noted that the 'mailed fist policy of the Government of Zimbabwe' was directed not only 'against dissidents themselves but against the entire Ndebele populace which is deemed to be the sea in which the enemy fish swim".
"At the end of January 1983 in Mkhonyeni, a pregnant woman 'was bayonetted open to kill the baby' 'whilst pregnant girls were bayoneted to death by 5th Brigade in Tsholotsho in Feb 1983', also killing the babies in their wombs. Young Ndebele men between the ages of 16-40 were particularly vulnerable and were frequently targeted and killed whilst others were forced to perform demeaning public sex acts. At Korodziba February 1983, '5th Brigade came to the school and took about 60 pupils aged over 14 years. They were all beaten and asked about dissidents. 20-30 girls were raped and then ordered to have sex with some of the boys while soldiers watched. They were beaten for 3 hours"
"The cable continues that: '5th Brigade soldiers appear to be obeying orders and to be generally under the control of their officers. Although they may be behaving more viciously than the government intend, the brutality seems systematic and is indiscriminately directed against villagers, to whom they are reported to have said "all Ndebele are dissidents".
Britain's interesting Position
Britain did not only let down the people of the Kingdom of Matabeleland, in my view Britain has acted like a collaborator to this day. I further continue with quotations from Hazel's research:
"This can be neatly summarised here by quoting a cable from the British High Commissioner, Harare, to the Secretary of State Mr R.P. Ralph, a member of the Secretariat during the Lancaster House Conference who wrote a confidential letter to senior staff of the British High Commission, Harare, which he copied to the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and the Central AfricanDepartment of the FCO. He noted that a few days previously, during a visit to Bulawayo 16-19 February 1983: 'there was much talk – and evidence – of widespread brutality by 5th Brigade towards villagers. Many people – including women and children – had evidently been killed; precise numbers will probably never be known, but reports of 500 may not be exaggerated…All this was seen in largely tribal terms as a Shona vendetta …In the long term the brutality was seen as creating a tribal powder keg…Everybody I talked to feared some sort of tribal war of the security forces did not stop killing Ndebele…Most people hoped HMG [Her Majesty's Government] "could do something"'
"Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, Geoffrey Howe, on 24 June 1983 notes that: 'Zimbabwe is important to us primarily because of major British and western economic and strategic interests in southern Africa, and Zimbabwe's pivotal position there. Other important interests are investment (£800 million) and trade (£120 million exports in 1982), Lancaster House prestige, and the need to avoid a mass white exodus".
"This was contrary to the approach of the UK government who wilfully turned a 'blind eye' to the victims of these gross abuses. Instead, the Zimbabweans who were of concern to the British government, and influenced their diplomatic approach, were the many white Zimbabweans living in the affected regions, and who were unaffected by the extreme violence of Fifth Brigade".
"Ewans informed the Foreign and Commonwealth Secretary Geoffrey Howe that the Zimbabwean Minister of Finance, Bernard Chidzero, had commented approvingly that 'at the time of the Matabeleland crisis, how very favourably Mugabe had commented on our demeanour, on the lines of "you have to hand it to the British, they know how to behave in this kind of situation".
"Later, in March 1984, Prince Charles embarked on an official visit to Zimbabwe. On his return to Britain, the Prince lunched with Peter Preston, editor of The Guardian and Donald Trelford, editor of The Observer (who had himself published his own eye witness account of the atrocities in Matabeleland). As Trelford relates, 'In general conversation over lunch, because it was soon after I'd been to Matabeleland and obviously it was a subject to talk about, the subject came up. He [Prince Charles] said "Ah yes, those massacres in Matabeleland, the Foreign Office told me that it was all exaggerated".
Britain is a signatory to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of 10 December 1948 among other humanitarian members of the United Nations who ratified the Declaration. Furthermore, the British are the colonial power who arrogantly ruled in their courts that, "our sovereignty (Ndebele) had been broken up and replaces by a "new, better" system.
The Way Forward
I want to reiterate that I am fully convinced that this is not a "Shona people's agenda" but it belongs to the particular "elite". However having said that, I also observe it to be true that a lot of Shona people, whether knowingly or unknowingly, whether directly or indirectly, have surely benefited from this "Shona rule by conquest" of the Kingdom of Mthwakazi. It is also true that this state of affairs is the order of the day to this day and it must be urgently attended to. According to the Grand Plans that rule Matabeleland, speaking about these things is a big crime to the Government of Zimbabwe, we are supposed to die in silence.
It is also true that legally as well as historically, Matabeleland or the Kingdom of Mthwakazi is not a union or a unitary state with any state or country. The only way to this endless "moment of madness" is the restoration of the Kingdom of Mthwakazi as outlined in my Press Release of 03/07/2019.
There is no need for anger, but there in an urgent need for the Restoration of our Kingdom. This is not a criminal offense, however remaining in this state is. There is no need for tribalism, love is a better weapon. It allows for justice and peace in the end. I thank you.
