Gweru local authority should get their house in order

26 Jan 2022 at 10:35hrs | Views
It is now a normal thing to go for days without water in Gweru yet they expect the residents to religiously pay their water bills, service charges etc.

People will pay but in anger for being short changed

They come with all excuses for the unavailability of the precious liquid, if it's not the old pipes bursting it's ZETDC which has switched off. There is always an excuse for the poor delivery of services in the so called city of Progress.

Numerous calls have been made for the authority to install prepaid meters. From most people,s perspective this can help in revenue flow into council coffers.Prepaid meters soon will be all over the country yet in Gweru the silence on the issue is buffling.

Traffic lights long ceased to work ages ago in the pot hole riddled city centre now resembling fishing ponds in rainy season. The only visible thing that the local authority is in existence is seeing council workers in running battles with vendors daily on the streets.

As people prepare for coming elections,  especially local government elections know who you vote for .What is point of voting for people who don't care about the city?

The once beautiful city has been turned into eyesore because of mismanagement, maybe the government should bring back the Commission.
