Asijiki arrested: prerogative of entertainment

He's here. He's there. He is everywhere and everyone. The Zimbabwe Republic Police is looking very busy and efficient by the alarming rate at which they are turning up new suspects.
Efficient confusion and a huge waste of taxpayers' money. But that is if one does not factor in their handlers. A group of men and women who are afraid of a facebook individual. But the arrest of the real Baba Jukwa whose post on Monday while Edmund Kudzayi was behind bars, generated over 500 comments, 300 time and was shared over 20 times, will not change anything.
Not the failing economy and not the struggling public service delivery wings. Not the high levels of unemployment and not the factional fights within the party.
Not a single thing will be changed by the arrest of this phantom individual who signs off with Asijiki!
The arrest will only serve to placate the egos of those who feel having been spited by Baba Jukwa. While millions of Zimbabweans still say what they feel like saying against the government on social networks.
Their voice against the government has never been this loud. And it might be good for the police to arraign the millions who are voicing their views so openly. A lot of people still think the election was rigged and a few theories of how still make rounds.
Indeed our vigilant police force should clamp down on the citizens.
What bothers me about the arrest is the fact that real crimes that affect the livelihood of the masses still go unchecked.
Houses are broken into, people are getting mugged and robbed. Fraud is rampant, corruption is rife and they still find the time to chase shadows and make it news.
The inefficiency of the police where it matters the most is appalling. I really do not care if the real Baba Jukwa is caught or not, that does little to assuage the malaise our communities are caught in, it won't ease the challenges the millions without jobs are facing just get from one day to the next. No it will not.
If anything it is only a diversion to get people talking about it and not their troubles. But that is the prerogative of entertainment.
That is why we have entertainers, to take our minds off stuff. At the moment the police is doing a good job of stealing the headlines with entertainment so much so it makes one wonder if the police and their handlers really know what they are supposed to be doing.
