2015 Christmas stolen by centralization
25 Dec 2015 at 10:40hrs | Views
Today (25 December 2015) we at Campaigners for Devolution, wish all the people of Matabeleland and Zimbabwe a merry Christmas and an accident free festive season.
Let us take this time to remember that Christ when He was here on earth, being the Son of God, did share His power with others. He never centralized power, HE had people who were working with Him doing different administrative duties and He assigned those people spiritual tasks too. In Mark 6v7 instead of gathering people to himself so that they see how mighty and powerful He is, He gave power and authority to the twelve disciples.
To Him, devolving power was never a weakness or a sign of failure but it was strength, great wisdom and vision.
When He could have fed the multitude, instead He instructed His disciples to do it. Even when left, He didn't leave us alone but He gave us all power to tread upon all serpents and scorpions and forces of wickedness (Luke 10v19). Moreover, He sent us the Holy Spirit whom He promised that when He comes in us we shall receive power.
This year 2015 we are unfortunate to endure a gloomy and boring Christmas instead of enjoying it. We spend the day sitting and stressed instead of being merry, visiting friends and relatives and sharing the Christmas spirit. We think of our lack of money instead of reflecting on the birth of our Messiah Jesus Christ and celebrating the abundant grace of His salvation.
It is important that we do not forget that this bad, boring, broke and gloomy unpleasant 2015 Christmas is the present we get as Zimbabweans from a centralized system of government.
Should we have devolved power like what Christ did, we should not be having this funeral of a birthday celebration.
Yes we may not have the Christmas presents, the smiles and the joy to share with family, friends, neighbors, relatives and the needy in society today, but let us share this message to all and let us take time to remind each other that devolution of power is our only key to having the kind of Christmas we want.
