The Need for low carbon economies in Africa - China a Case Study!

09 May 2016 at 13:01hrs | Views
The dream  of all progressive  scientists , environmentalists , climatologists and  all other positive thinking citizens   is that  one day   the World would turn to renewable  wind, bio -gas  and solar energy(clean  energy

A  lot  of scholars are coming  up with  a number of inventions and it's a pity  that national governances do  not sponsor and not take such  innovations seriously but  rather politic about them and no further  improvements are done . That is Africa for you.

In 2014, it is reported that DST Hydrogen Infrastructure Centre of Competence (HYSA Infrastructure) at the faculty of Engineering   at North West University South Africa completed a Generation One Hydrogen Plant that can produce hydrogen fuel cells amounting to    half a kilogram a day from renewable  energy sources and the centre upgraded into a  Two Plant Generation that produces three kilograms a day, which is equivalent to  about 11 litres  of petrol  and sufficient to meet daily needs  of average travellers and motorists.

Scholars and Scientists like Dr Dmitri Bessarabov  , who is the director of HYSA COMPETENCE CENTRE argued that  this new  energy concept promote sustainable mobility  and it is a positive migration from non- renewable  to renewable energy  and  it will be  a good  economic and  energy  infrastructural  development to South Africa and  other Economies

The hydrogen fuel cells produce and emit non- greenhouse gasses, which means it is cleaner. Its rwa materials are sunlight, wind and biogas  and are sustainable and renewable energy resources.

Hydrogen fuel plants will soon replace diesel, thermal and petrol controlled economies. Mostly in underground mines that will save ventilation and toxicity costs reducing industrial and medical  bills  to both  mining   industries, manufacturing and  other projects.. The United States of America  has since adopted this new energy infrastructure. In Africa  , governments , cooperates  and banks should fund   and embrace such  useful and efficient concepts . Africa will be become   a great  economic  , scientific and climatic  revolutionary  giant.

China is one country that is a success story in the implementation of new energy  infrastructure policies  and migration from non- renewable to  non – carbon emitting resources though it has  experienced serious   energy  challenges and effects that  have disrupted   industrial  production and  public health as well in the past. China is making a giant step to avert such serious global  energy crisis

On top of its political, socio economic and cultural development plans. China has added plans in creating a resource conservation and an environmental friendly republic. Thus developing  sustainable  industrialisation with reliable economic results and low energy consumption  with limited pollution.  Such realisations created a strong economic and social power house that China had become. In the its national plans  up to 2020 China will be implementing the following   hurdles that include urbanisation , agricultural development and ecological security  and as well  as preservation   key natural resources. Its 12th  year Five Year  Plan  includes national  climate change program , energy  conservation  program , emissions reduction and Air pollution prevention. These strategic projects have  made  China  a success story in migration  and transition into  clean  energy  infrastructure  hence promoting sound economic governance.

For the past  7 to 9 years  China  has  reduced its  energy  consumption  to about 23,6%, the carbon  emissions were also reduced by 1.8 billion  tons. This is a world remarkable emission reduction program that has become a major case study by  global research teams  , scientists and scholars.

Scientists estimated that by 2020, the carbon emissions by China per capita will be lowered by40% to 45% from that of the last decade. China has also embarked on a massive drive   on the development  of clean and renewable  energy sources. It is targeting to 11,4% use of non-fossil fuels  for its the primary power through  the use of hydropower , solar power and bio-energy. This is a giant step from  dirty to clean   power.

Africa should start developing  , embracing  , supporting and funding  scientific  innovations and  projects    by scholars and scientists . She should also learn from others,  concepts of new energy  infrastructures for sound  economies, low public health bills and reliable climate patterns.

China has done it , let's take the advantage  of trade corporations  to learn  more on their energy , climate  and  industrial development plans and programs. The present and the future Africa will be the set Africa!
