President Emmerson Mnangagwa has launched a mobile app to bolster his campaign for Zimbabwe's top job.

Mnangagwa is calling his ruling Zanu-PF party to appeal "humbly" for votes as it campaign for elections expected on July 31.
The app is described in Google Plays as, "Presidential News straight from the President himself. Contact your Future ZANU PF legislators via Whatsapp. Discuss national issues with other citizens on public chat. Watch live facebook streams of my events and rallies. Read ZANU PF manifesto and the country's constitution. Know your rights."

Gedza Chinwa announced the development saying, "Pinda mutechnology naPresident wevanhu, download the ED Mnangagwa app today for updates at your fingertips! #EDPfee"

The APP can be downloaded from Google Play LINK.

The election will be the first without Robert Mugabe in power since the country won independence from Britain in 1980.

Mnangagwa took over in November 2017 after Mugabe, now 94, was forced out of office when the military briefly took over.

Previous elections in Zimbabwe have been marred by electoral fraud, intimidation and violence, including the killing of scores of opposition supporters in 2008.

Mnangagwa, 75, has repeatedly pledged to hold free and fair elections as he seeks to mend international relations. But he has also been accused of involvement in Zanu-PF's past record of election violence.

He is a veteran party loyalist who served as Mugabe's deputy until he was sacked shortly before Mugabe was ousted.
