The Bulawayo Board of Designers will be showcasing their collection named Feel the Pain at the Intwasa Fashion Show on Saturday the 29th of November 2014 at the Hope Centre in Bulawayo. The collection which debuted at the launch of Matabeleland Fashion Week is a story line addressing conflicts that women go through in society. The collection which led to them winning The Outstanding Display Award at the Matabeleland Fashion Week, will be showcased once again, in a more theatrical way at the Intwasa Fashion Show.
The Award Winning Bulawayo Board of Designers which is made up of Michael Shepard, Luckson Dzamombe, Roselyn Ncube, Nicky Sibanda, Grant Moyo, Lorraine Ndlovu, Saneliso Mpofu, Annie Gonyora and Nkululeko Ncube, will once again touch souls through their designs. Their collection is just not about clothes and looking good, but they used their capabilities to address social issues, especially of violence against women and girls. It is with this in mind that they managed to sail through peoples' hearts and have won over support of the locals.
The board of designers was established in January 2014 as a way of bringing together individuals involved in the design world, from all spheres of influence. Just like any board wanting to set a platform, challenges were faced and some joined the board, with some not willing to be part of it. Since inception, The Award Winning Bulawayo Board of Designers have grown stronger and featured at events such as, Fusion Runway, Rotary Club Clean Campaigns, Career Guidance workshops, CoFFashion Pop Up and the recently ended Matabeleland Fashion Week. Their collection is one of the most anticipated highlights of the upcoming Intwasa Fashion Show 2014.
The Intwasa Fashion Show comes as part of the Intwasa Extras. The festival which happened in September this year, celebrating 10years of existence, is the second largest festival in Zimbabwe after the Harare International Festival of the Arts. The fashion sector has been lacking within the festival, and through the Intwasa Extra activities, fashionistas and those within the business, will be treated. The Intwasa Fashion Show is a collaboration between Hunnar Management Agency and Intwasa Arts Festival koBulawayo. The show is supported by Edgars Stores Zimbabwe and the Alliance Francaise de Bulawayo.
The event is being produced by Style Icon & Global Citizen, Gilmore Tee who recently won an award for his outstanding contributions to the fashion industry in Zimbabwe at the launch of Matabeleland Fashion Week.
