Zimbabwean Ambassadors from across the globe recently visited the historic Chimoio shrine in Mozambique, where they paid solemn tribute to the fallen heroes and heroines of the country's liberation struggle. The visit formed part of the Strategic Planning and Review Workshop held in Mutare.

In a post shared by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, the delegation described the experience as deeply emotional and reflective, serving as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made for Zimbabwe's independence.

Ambassador to Mozambique, Victor Matemadanda, emphasized the importance of preserving such sacred sites. "They all wanted to live, but for the sake of freedom, they donated the only life they had," he said.

Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Albert Chimbindi, echoed the sentiment, stating that the visit was essential for grounding the country's diplomatic future in the legacy of its liberation heroes.

The delegation also commended ongoing infrastructure development at the shrine, supported by the Ministry and the Lotteries and Gaming Board, which aims to promote cultural tourism and strengthen historical ties between Zimbabwe and Mozambique.

The visit concluded with a renewed commitment by the Ambassadors to uphold the values of patriotism, remembrance, and unity in their diplomatic service.
