The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, on Friday led a high‑density Operation Shanela II in the Seshego policing area following the conclusion of the final Provincial Stakeholder Engagement held in the Capricorn District.
The engagement brought together traditional leaders, government officials, law‑enforcement agencies, Community Policing Forums (CPFs), Community in Blue structures, faith‑based organisations, business forums and other community stakeholders committed to strengthening safety and security across the province.
Immediately after the engagement, Lieutenant General Hadebe moved from dialogue to direct enforcement, leading officers on the ground during intensified crime‑prevention operations in Seshego.
Police said the operation formed part of ongoing efforts to combat crime and enhance law‑enforcement visibility in communities across Limpopo.
Addressing deployed officers before the operation commenced, Hadebe outlined key priorities and urged members to remain committed to protecting communities and maintaining law and order.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) said the Provincial Commissioner’s hands‑on leadership demonstrated the importance of combining stakeholder engagement with decisive policing action.
“Effective policing is built not only on dialogue but on decisive action,” SAPS said in a statement.
Operation Shanela II is one of SAPS’ nationwide crime‑fighting initiatives targeting violent crime, illegal activities and other threats to community safety through coordinated operations and increased police visibility.
The Seshego operation comes as police in Limpopo continue strengthening partnerships with communities, local leadership structures and civic organisations in efforts to create safer neighbourhoods across the province.
