'Zanu PF fooling the people'

A social commentator Tererai Terry Matara has said it was sad that the ruling Zanu PF is fooling people to believe that it has achieved a lot of things during its rule yet the citizens have suffered a lot of set back as a result of its misrule.

"I wonder why people are being corned by Zanu pf on the issue of national development. Zanu pf is trying to convince people by lying to them that it achieved many things since 1980 so that we will vote them again in the next election. Thats pseudo and a great lie and they are not even ashamed of themselves. It is because we are heading towards elections which they are not sure they might win. Let me comment on whatever they thought they have done and benefited Zimbabwe since 1980," he said.

"This is not an achievement at all.As for me l am giving the credit to God because the season was just good. What did Zanu did on this issue.Ask yourself why they talked about it towards harvesting i.e when we were ending the season."

He said to make matters worse, the farmers got nothing from their effort. He said the GMB was charging low prices. On tobacco and cotton it was just the same

"Just pick 15 people in your rural home and tell me how many who got the farm machines they are talking about.I m sure you will just find one or two person and that person might be a counsillor, a ward chairman or a warvet. Then those who made the so called Command Agriculture successful are those who didnt have even a tractor," he said.

"It was a good word when saying or pronouncing it and its sound was trying to say something which might be ours as Zimbabweans. However it was a policy which was formulated for political interests. They wanted votes and they obviously got them.We all know that it is Zanu pf's policy to formulate good policies but they will fail to implement them. How can you formulate a policy without a proposed funding.Where are the two millon millions jobs they ZIMASSET promised."

He asked "Do they know the meaning of democratic government? It is the government of the people to the people by the people. In a Democratic country there is freedom of speech.People have the right to demostrate and to criticize the ruling government. There is no violation of Human Rights, free and fair elections etc. Is that applicable in Zimbabwe? How many people were killed by Zanu PF since 1980.Who will forget the Gukurahundi atrocities, the death of MDC activists (Learnmore Jongwe, Better Chokurarama, Tonderai Ndira to mention just a few)? Where is Itai Dzamara? Why is it people are being intimidated when we are heading towards elections? Let me stop here, but think about it."

He said it was a policy, yes but we know it is Zanu pf's policy to formulate policies but it will find it difficult to implement those policies.

"Firstly, the indigenization policy forced investors to withdraw their application letters (those who wanted to invest here). It even led to the retrechment of worker by some companies and some of them stopped operating. Why?What is the reason for taking a lion share (51%) from a company's profit whilst leaving it with 49%. Do you know that, that company needs to pay its workers, needs to maintain its machinery to mention but a few. The policy is not investor friendly," he said.

"To make matters worse, you are giving that same company another responsibility to develop the community where it is operating through the *COMMUNITY OWNERSHIP TRUST SCHEME*.They are considering it as a good scheme but l want them to listen to Hosea Chipanga's Song "Kwamarange."

He said a simple question for them. How many of the educated people are employed?

"Is knowing how to read and right an achievement and is it bringing food in anyone's table? Why is it during election the literate people are forced to say they are illiterate? They must think before they leap," he said.

"Do you know that it brought more harm than good.It was an inhuman policy which leads to homelessness to the extent that some ended up being squatters. Who is to blame on that? Is Zanu PF because it is known for allocating residential stands to people when we are heading towards election so that they will get votes. After winning they will destroy these people's house calling them illegal houses. Moreover what causes people to stay where they call illegal settlements. It is Zanu PF because it failed to provide accommodation to its people since independence."

He said special thanks to Joshua Nkomo for accepting this because Zanu PF was ready to destroy the whole of Matabeleland.

"I m not going to give credit to Zanu PF on this one. Is it still helping children. My research as a social worker is telling me that there is nothing like that in Zimbabwe. It ended in 2010. l give credit to them, but was it Zanu alone, how about Zapu. That's the only problem with Zanu PF they pretend as if they fought alone.

"How many people own land? You gave them land in the low veld, are they getting anything from the land. You gave them 15 hectares of land but they are just using 3 hectares whilst some do not have an acre. How many farms owned by the bosses. Let us start with Grace, then Chombo. Moreover, what are we getting from that land. Thank God the past season was good (good rains)," he said.

"It was a good move but it just ended before it fulfilled its objectives. Why?.
Zanu pf is a failed party. It never achieved anything. The big fish just benefited at the expense of the majority."
