POLICE in Marondera have launched a probe into a suspected suicide incident which occurred at Mahusekwa District Hospital on Tuesday this week, involving a female patient.
NewsDay heard that on the fateful day, the patient, identified as Norest Matiyenga (38), from Chigodora village under Chief Chihota, fled from a female ward and went to the male ward on the first floor where she plunged to the ground headlong, leading to her death.

Although Mashonaland East provincial medical director Paul Matsvimbo could not be reached for comment yesterday, documents shown to NewsDay indicated that the now-deceased was admitted to the hospital on March 3.
On March 9, Matiyenga allegedly escaped from the female ward and proceeded to the male ward on the first floor where she jumped to her death.
