HIGHLANDERS Football Club have reportedly begun the process of hunting for a new chief executive officer to take over from incumbent Nhlanhla Dube whose term of office runs out at the end of this month.

Dube, who is currently on a three months leave pending his departure from office after a four year tenure that saw a blood bath within the executive over his time in office, has since been officially informed that he will not be returning to office, according to well placed figures within the Bulawayo giants.

"The executive is already siezed with the matter and would soon be advertising for the post but word is that they already have their person, advertising is just a formality," said a source.

Highlanders spokesperson and acting chief executive officer Ronald Moyo said the club was not only unaware that the post was vacant but they were also not aware of any head hunt for the head of secretariat.

"The club has not advertised or said the post is vacant. We are not aware of the hunt," said Moyo.

Different sources however told Chronicle Sport that a new face will be in charge and names have been thrown around, including that of Moyo.

Dube was initially hired in May 2017, taking over from Ndumiso Gumede and when his two year contract came to an end, things degenerated into a crisis at the club with the executive sharply devided on whether to renew his contract or not.

Vice chairman Modern Ngwenya and then secretary Israel Moyo refused to confirm the contract extension and were subsequently fired from their executive duties "for defying a board decision."

They were however later reinstated to their posts but relations among executive committee members led by Kenneth Mhlophe were never cordial again.
