FORMER beauty queen Lorraine Maphala still supports and loves her playboy husband Sonny Phiri as she publicly declared that she is still committed to her marriage.
Her utterances, the first public remarks on her embattled marriage since Phiri's extra-marital affair with a teenage neighbour broke two months ago, were published on a South Africa-based women website Great Women International which profiled her for its April-May issue.
The interview tackled issues to do with her personal life where she openly said her family and health were most important to her, commending the support her husband gives her.
"My partner gives me so much support and sometimes gives me the much-needed harsh criticism which drives me up the wall, but always helps me at the end of the day," she said.
Maphala said her worst quality was that she trusted too much and was too inquisitive.
She also speaks about her love for God and how she wants to promote her hair line and her handbags that she launched last month.
The website is a global network for professional and businesswomen. The communications and events company creates and sells products that are tailor-made for women.
Maphala seems to have found a way to heal from her ordeal that she faced two months ago when she was sucked into her husband's illicit affair with a Bulawayo teenager who accused him of impregnating her.
The case went to court but Phiri went away free after his mistress said they only had sex when she was above the age of consent.
After getting off the hook, some people thought Maphala would walk out of her marriage, but she didn't.
The ordeal though, seems to have made Maphala a stronger woman as she now wants to openly share her unspecified mistakes in life to empower others through a mentorship programme which she is running on Facebook.
"The mentorship programme is about sharing my experiences with others and how they can inspire people out there," she said.
