Mugabe's choice of successor secures senatorial seat

Among some top political leaders who have kept their political careers alive through entry into the senate are Masvingo provincial affairs minister Josiah Hungwe while ex-president Mugabe's choice of successor Sydney Sekeramayi made it to the upper house from Mashonaland East.
Health and Child Care Minister David Parirenyatwa also makes the list from those coming from Mashonaland East.
Current Home Affairs Minister Obert Mpofu abandoned lower house of assembly and chose the senate where he is now a member.
Former cabinet minister Chenhamo Chimutengwende also makes a surprise return to the fold through a Zanu-PF Mashonaland Central provincial slot.
The opposition MDC, equally, has some of its top politician reviving their careers through membership to the senate.
They include Theresa Makone, Elias Mudzuri, Morgen Femai all from Harare province while Douglas Mwonzora and Morgan Komichi are appointed from Manicaland and Midlands respectively.
