Bulawayo High Court judge Justice Thompson Mabhikwa reserved judgment in the matter where a civic group called 1893MRM seeks the removal of Deputy Mayor Tinashe Kambarami arguing that he flouted electoral laws as he is a convicted criminal.
After hearing submissions from both sides Judge Mabhikwa said he will hand down the ruling on Thursday.
Kambarami was represented by senior Bulawayo lawyer Maqhawe Mpofu of Mlaudzi and partners.
The court was surrounded by heavily armed anti-riot officers anticipating a clash between Mthwakazi Republic Party members and supporters of the Deputy Mayor.
