Norton Member of Parliament Temba Mliswa has called for an investigation into allegations that former Finance Minister Ignatius Morgen Chiminya Chombo owns shares at Metbank.
Mliswa was responding to Chombo's lawyer Professor Lovemore Madhuku who had said, "I am Dr Ignatius Chombo 's lawyer. I am instructed to inform the world as follows: my client does not own, and has never owned, shares in Metbank. Accordingly, a statement claiming that my client is a Metbank shareholder is wholly false."
Said Mliswa, "But of course on paper he doesn't, this'll always be the case as his ownership is through proxy... it's believed Kamushinda is that proxy. It's common knowledge that lawyers have ways&means to draft addendums that aren't necessarily made public but are enforceable at law."
Mliswa urged law enforcement agents to investigate directors and alleged proxies of Chombo at the bank.
"Target these proxies & the truth will come out. The directors must be unmasked & answer to this. A lifestyle audit on Chombo would need to be conducted. From what I know of him he was an academic so what business did he establish that allowed him to amass such wealth?"
