BREAKING: Former Harare Mayor Herbert Gomba arrested
14 Mar 2022 at 19:22hrs | Views
Online publication Zimlive has reported that former Harare mayor Herbert Gomba has been arrested after attending a police station with his lawyer Harrison Nkomo.
He faces 2 charges under the Electoral Act - one of registering 12 voters with his address and other of registering as a voter using his parents' Glen Norah address.
Police had planned to charge Gomba with arson but Gilbert Mbwende, the MDC-T's by-election candidate for Highfield East, today withdrew his complaint about the burning of his car at Belvedere home in 2020. Gomba had gone underground after police went looking for him over that case.
Tweeting bout the arrest Government Spokesperson Nick Mangwana said, "We have said those that committed Electoral Fraud must face their day in court, right?"
This is a developing story…
