Bulawayo lawyer Sindiso Mazibisa has pledged to assist the family of the slain Elvis Nyathi in creating a family trust that will be able to receive funds from well wishers in a coordinated manner.
The pledge comes after Elvis Nyathi's wife, Nomusa Tshuma, appealed for public assistance to raise her four children amid concerns that she has not yet accessed government funding for laying to rest her late husband.
Said Mazibisa, "Mrs Nyathi and kids need a Family Trust and oversight on the funds by Registered Accountants and Lawyers... And Some Notable Community and Family Members. That way funds can be channelled accordingly. Public Sympathy Will Wane with Time and the Begging Bowl be empty sooner. I can help on the Family Trust For Free if anyone can contact Me. (sic)"
Nyathi was killed by a vigilante group in Diepsloot, South Africa, two weeks ago. He was laid to rest last Saturday.
There has been a number of uncoordinated fundraising activities being done through GoFundMe and various Whatsapp groups raising fears that the funds might not reach the intended recipients.
Meanwhile the leader of Operation Dudula the extremist xenophobic vigilante group behind the murder of Nyathi has vowed to continue mobilizing communities to unleash a reign of terror on foreigners.
