Copper cable thieves in trouble

TWO Harare based suspected thieves allegedly hatched a plan with a security guard in Mazowe to steal copper cables were arrested last week.
Patrick Chitsungwe (65),Alton Mazenge (25) and also Ephraim Mupedzapasi the security guard (48) appeared before Bindura magistrate Estere Chivasa on Friday.
The trio was remanded in custody to July 19.
Prosecutor Edward Katsvairo told the court that on June 29 at Concorpia farm,Mazowe Chitsungo and Madzenge who were driving a Black Honda Fit AEY 1725 approached the security gurad Mupedzapasi and convinced him to steal a copper cable at the farm.
The trio stole an armored cable which was connecting from the transformer to the water pump using a bolt cutter and loaded it in their vehicle .
The trio drove away but they could not escape as alert security guards who were manning a boom gate at the farm intercepted them.
The guards searched the car and found the stolen cable stashed in the boot.
