An unfortunate incident occurred in Mayambara Village, Seke as 3 children drowned in an open pit.
It was on Tuesday when the 3 children aged between 9 and 15 drowned in an open pit. The deceased were identified as Blessing Ndhlala(15)a form 2 student, Stephen Masaure(12) grade six and Queentine Madamombe(9) grade 3.
The 3 children were under the care of their grandmother, Mavis Nzara (68).
Nzara reported to H-Metro that the children drowned while they were looking for firewood in the forest near Hunyani river. She mentioned that they decided to go in their own direction without her for a reason she doesn't know.
To her surprise, one of them shouted out for help and at least managed to recognise the voice of her grandchild. It was however unfortunate as she found the three children already submerged in the water still struggling for their lives.
Due to her old age, Mbuya Nzara was helpless. She called out for help but by the time the masses of Mayambara Village came, it was already late.
