Over the weekend, Bulawayo sneaker enthusiasts gathered for their third Sneakers Expo, a showcase of various types of footwear that fall under the category of sneakers. The event took place at Mystique Gardens on Saturday, and attendance significantly improved, with participants coming from various areas, including Harare.
Davison "Diva" Feliate, one of the organizers, explained that the sneaker expo was inspired by the universal love for sneakers. While the event has garnered sponsorships from Value Gas, Chaipexx Trucking, Winning Designs, PES, Ecobank, Liquid, and Audio Serve, the organizers have also contributed from their own resources.
The expo not only featured sneaker dealers and stallholders but also drew shoe enthusiasts, musicians, and shoe companies. Participants had the opportunity to customize their footwear, buy and sell sneakers, and learn about sneaker culture.
The event has shown significant growth since its launch in 2021. At the first edition, about 100 people attended, and the second drew 500. This year's event continued to expand in popularity, emphasizing the city's enthusiasm for streetwear culture.
While food, music, and alcohol added to the atmosphere, the primary focus remained on sneakers. Shoe Guru, a shoe cleaning company from Harare, had a presence at the event, offering sneaker cleaning services. Value Gas, one of the sponsors, expressed their satisfaction with the event and their interaction with customers.
The Sneakers Expo has evolved into a delightful gathering for sneaker enthusiasts, where attendees can learn about, buy, and customize their sneakers while enjoying a vibrant streetwear culture.
