A Harare man, brought to civil court by his wife on Friday, turned the tables by claiming their marital issues stemmed from her mistreatment of their children.
Lameck Ndava told Harare magistrate Johanna Mukwesha that his wife, Enia Pise, frequently assaulted their children and burdened them with excessive house chores. He recounted an incident where Pise was summoned by social workers after severely beating their Grade 7 son. Ndava stated that the child was forced to complete all house chores before and after school, negatively impacting his studies. He added that any attempt to restrain Pise resulted in insults.
Pise denied the allegations, claiming she needed protection from Ndava, who was attempting to evict her from their home.
Magistrate Mukwesha granted Pise the protection order.
