A delegation from India is in Zimbabwe to offer over 500 scholarships to Zimbabwean students in various fields such as sciences, law, and humanities.
Global Arcus, a leading Indian academic consultancy, has met with officials from Zimbabwe's Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training to discuss potential educational exchange programs. A youth symposium is planned to provide guidance on the available courses in India.
Global Arcus director, Pragati Srivastava, highlighted that the campaign aims to raise awareness about the Indian education system. She noted that annually, 200-300 Zimbabwean students go to India for studies, with expectations to increase this number to 500-2,000. The scholarships cover tuition, food, accommodation, and sometimes even flights, for diplomas, undergraduate, master's, and PhD programs.

Local partner, Tendai Makiwa, mentioned efforts to streamline the scholarship process with the involvement of the government and the banking sector to address issues related to proof of income for student visas. Additionally, exchange programs between Zimbabwe and India are being proposed.
