Mnangagwa to commission Nust students' Complex

President Emmerson Mnangagwa is in Bulawayo today to preside over a series of significant events that underscore the Second Republic's commitment to infrastructural and educational development.
Commissioning of the Bulawayo Students Accommodation Complex
The President will officially open the US$17 million Bulawayo Students Accommodation Complex (BSAC) in Selbourne Park. Constructed by the Infrastructure and Development Bank of Zimbabwe (IDBZ), the state-of-the-art facility is designed to accommodate over 1,000 students and includes fast-food outlets, shops, salons, and sports facilities.
The BSAC project is set to be a model for similar initiatives in cities hosting universities, with Lupane earmarked as the next location. The venture is funded by the Public Service Pension Fund, Old Mutual Life Assurance Company, Motor Industry Pension Fund, Zimnat Nominees, and the Old Mutual Local Pension Fund Syndicate.
Launch of the Professor Makhurane Technovation Centre
President Mnangagwa will also commission the Professor Phineas Mogorosi Makhurane Technovation Centre at the National University of Science and Technology (NUST). Named after the late Professor Makhurane, NUST's founding Vice-Chancellor, the centre is a milestone in the government's push for modern university infrastructure.
The facility, which had languished at 60 percent completion for 15 years under independent contractors, was finalized within two years under the Second Republic's developmental agenda.
NUST Graduation Ceremony
Following the commissioning events, the President will preside over NUST's 30th graduation ceremony at the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre (ZIEC), where 3,201 graduands will receive their degrees. The ceremony was moved from its traditional campus venue due to weather concerns.
Advancing Inclusive Development
The President's engagements in Bulawayo highlight his administration's philosophy of leaving no one and no place behind in the country's quest for development. These projects are aligned with Zimbabwe's Vision 2030 to achieve upper-middle-income status.
Next Stop: Victoria Falls
After completing his engagements in Bulawayo, President Mnangagwa will travel to Victoria Falls, where he will participate in regional World Children's Day celebrations at Baobab Primary School tomorrow.
These initiatives reinforce the government's commitment to advancing education, infrastructure, and social development across Zimbabwe.
