ZANU-PF's Masvingo province has reaffirmed its support for President Emmerson Mnangagwa to remain in office until 2030, emphasizing the need for him to complete transformative projects under his Vision 2030 agenda.
The call was made during a Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) meeting held in Masvingo on Friday, where provincial chairperson Robson Mavhenyengwa briefed party leaders on resolutions from the 21st National People's Conference held in Bulawayo last month.
Extending Mnangagwa's Leadership
Mavhenyengwa highlighted that the conference endorsed the extension of President Mnangagwa's leadership to ensure the continuation of development programs aimed at industrializing, modernizing, and empowering Zimbabwe.
"This meeting was held to brief the provincial leadership on the outcomes of the National People's Conference. One of the key resolutions was for President Mnangagwa to remain as the First Secretary of ZANU-PF and the leader of the country until 2030," said Mavhenyengwa.
He stressed that Vision 2030 remains central to the party's agenda and that any future leaders would need to craft their own visions once Mnangagwa's goals have been achieved.
Politburo Endorsement
ZANU-PF Secretary for Security in the Politburo, Lovemore Matuke, also expressed confidence in Mnangagwa's leadership, describing his vision as divinely inspired.
"We wish the President a long and wise leadership. His vision was shown to him by God, and we stand firmly behind him until it is fulfilled. While we cannot force everyone to love the President, his widespread support speaks for itself," Matuke said.
Focus on Vision 2030
Vision 2030 is the government's strategic framework aimed at transforming Zimbabwe into an upper-middle-income economy by the end of the decade. It prioritizes industrial growth, infrastructure development, poverty eradication, and socio-economic empowerment.
ZANU-PF has positioned the continuation of Mnangagwa's presidency as vital to the successful realization of this ambitious national agenda.
The party is now set to cascade the resolutions to grassroots structures, ensuring alignment across all levels of its membership.
Next Steps
As discussions on leadership continuity gather momentum, ZANU-PF's stance underscores its commitment to sustaining political stability and policy consistency as key enablers of national progress.
