A 41-year-old woman from Emakhandeni suburb in Bulawayo appeared in court on Monday, facing a charge of murder after allegedly fatally stabbing her brother during a domestic dispute.

Clara Masango, who appeared before Western Commonage Magistrate Mrs. Lenia Khumalo, was remanded in custody to December 9 for routine remand pending trial at the High Court.

According to the prosecutor, Ms. Audrey Kufandikanwe, the incident occurred in March at Clara's residence at around 4 p.m. The court heard that the deceased, Mr. Munyaradzi Masango, was resting in his bedroom when Clara entered, and an argument ensued between the siblings over an unresolved issue, the details of which were not disclosed in court papers.

"During the altercation, the accused stabbed her brother twice in the chest with an unknown object. Munyaradzi succumbed to excessive bleeding and died on the spot," said Ms. Kufandikanwe.

After the incident, Clara allegedly attempted to cover up the crime by cleaning the bedroom in an effort to destroy evidence. However, neighbors who had heard the heated exchange between the siblings alerted the police, leading to Clara's arrest.

The tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the Emakhandeni community, with many expressing disbelief over the fatal confrontation between family members. Clara will remain in custody as investigations continue, and the case is set to be heard in the High Court in due course.
