Two men, Tapfumanei Russell Murozi (39) and Ashley Muchemwa (29), appeared at the Harare Magistrates' Courts on Tuesday, facing charges of robbing a principal immigration officer stationed at Beitbridge Border Post.

The accused appeared before Magistrate Sharon Rakafa, who remanded them in custody until December 10, when they are expected to apply for bail.

The complainant, Tawanda Brian Dzvoti (38), serves as the principal immigration officer for the Department of Immigration. According to prosecutor Takudzwa Mutyavaviri, the alleged robbery occurred on November 26.

The State alleges that Murozi and Muchemwa, armed, forced entry into Dzvoti's home and demanded money. They reportedly dragged Dzvoti's wife outside the house, indecently harassing her while threatening her with severe violence.

Her screams reportedly prompted the suspects to drag her back into the house, but neighbors who heard the commotion quickly raised the alarm.

During the incident, the robbers allegedly stole $2,820 in cash from Dzvoti's wallet, as well as other valuables from the house. They also took $200 that was hidden in a makeup kit belonging to Dzvoti's wife.

Before they could flee the scene, neighbors apprehended the suspects and alerted authorities, leading to their arrest.

The case continues as investigations are underway.
