Mighty Warriors coach Sithetheliwe “Kwinji 15” Sibanda has unveiled her final 23-player squad for Zimbabwe's upcoming Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Qualifiers clash against Angola. The first leg is set to take place in Luanda on February 20, with the return leg scheduled a week later at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in South Africa.
The squad received a significant boost ahead of the crucial encounter with the arrival of Israel-based striker Ruvimbo Mucherera, who joined camp on Sunday. Her presence adds depth and experience to Sibanda's team as they prepare for the high-stakes qualifier.
If the Mighty Warriors overcome Angola on aggregate over the two legs, they will progress to face the winner of the Malawi-Congo tie in the final qualifying round for the 2026 WAFCON, set to be held in Morocco.
The team heads into the clash with renewed confidence, bolstered by the Zimbabwe Football Association's (ZIFA) commitment to improving player welfare. For the first time in the team's history, the Mighty Warriors are receiving daily allowances during their stay in camp, a development that has been warmly welcomed by the players and technical staff.
This historic improvement in welfare, coupled with the arrival of Mucherera, has ignited optimism within the camp as the Mighty Warriors aim to secure their place in the continental showcase.
