Industry and Commerce Minister Nqobizitha Mangaliso Ndhlovu received the delegation today, marking the beginning of crucial discussions on expanding Zimbabwe's automotive industry. The discussions included a thorough needs assessment of the local automotive sector and the exploration of investment avenues to help drive its growth.

"As part of the discussions, the parties addressed the need to conduct a needs assessment and explore investment opportunities within the local automotive industry," the ministry's statement noted.

The visit aligns with the Government's broader vision to promote local production, enhance industrialisation, and foster economic growth across key sectors. By collaborating with South Africa's automotive giants, Zimbabwe hopes to boost local production, increase job creation, and strengthen the country's manufacturing base.

As the local automotive industry seeks to expand and develop, partnerships with international OEMs could play a pivotal role in increasing the capacity of local manufacturers and ensuring global competitiveness. This collaboration could provide a pathway to modernising the industry, building technical expertise, and ultimately stimulating broader economic development in Zimbabwe.

The meeting marks a positive step forward for the automotive sector, reflecting the Government's commitment to attracting foreign investment and promoting sustainable industrial growth.
