Bid to bribe a police detective to lie under oath in court hit the brick wall after a trap was set on the duo who wanted the detective to lie under oath for a series of robbery cases allegedly committed by their friend.
The matter came to light at Norton magistrates courts yesterday where Munyaradzi Zacharia (38) and Theresa Chenjerai (48) appeared before a Norton magistrate.
The duo was remanded in custody to March 3 for a bail application.
The state led by Thomas Chanakira alleged sometime in January the duo connived to bribe an investigating officer who was investigating 15 cases of robbery involving their friend Tapiwa Marazanye.
The duo were offering $150 and Zacharia was sent with the money to the alert police officers who arrested him upon handing over the bribe.
Zacharia implicated Chenjerai and they were both arrested.
