Opposition leader Nelson Chamisa has confirmed that his X account was hacked after unusual posts promoting a digital currency called "God Is In It ($GIT)" appeared on his page.

Early Tuesday morning, hackers gained access to Chamisa's X (formerly Twitter) account and posted a series of images and videos showing the politician wearing a morning gown while endorsing the mysterious digital currency.

Responding swiftly, Chamisa issued a statement on his WhatsApp channel, addressing his supporters and the public:
"To my fellow citizens, I wish to kindly inform you that my X account has been hacked and compromised by cybercriminals. Our cybersecurity team is working diligently with X support team to fix this problem, regain control and implement remedial measures. We will keep you updated on the status of the account recovery and any actions being taken."

By midday, the unusual posts had been removed from Chamisa's timeline, and it appeared the opposition leader had regained control of his account.

This incident highlights ongoing concerns about cybersecurity risks faced by public figures, especially on popular social media platforms. Authorities and digital experts continue to urge users to remain vigilant against hacking and fraudulent online activities.
