Eunice Ngwenya, a 32-year-old woman from Makwika Village, appeared in Hwange Regional Court facing charges of attempted murder following a violent domestic dispute that left her boyfriend, Mbekezeli Sibanda, in serious condition.

The incident occurred on 18 August when Ngwenya, Sibanda, and Ngwenya’s sister were walking together. Reports indicate that the disagreement began over Sibanda’s inner garment, which Ngwenya allegedly refused to return despite his repeated requests.

After briefly separating, Ngwenya reportedly returned with the garment, concealing a kitchen knife inside it. As Sibanda reached to retrieve his clothing, she allegedly pulled out the knife and stabbed him twice—once in the right arm and once in the right side of his chest—causing severe bleeding.

Sibanda attempted to seek help from a workmate without success, but he eventually made it home, where a friend assisted in contacting the police and obtaining medical treatment. A medical report documenting his injuries will serve as evidence in the case.

Ngwenya was arrested following the attack and charged with attempted murder. She was remanded in custody, with her next court appearance scheduled for 5 September as investigations continue.
