Chipezeze continues fine run of form in the Carling Cup

WARRIORS goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze has continued his fine run of form in the Carling Cup, scooping the Player of the Match award after his side's thrilling 3-2 victory over Amazulu on Sunday evening.

Chipezeze, who was named the tournament's best player in August after winning four Player of the Match accolades last season, once again proved his class between the posts. Despite conceding two goals, the Zimbabwean shot-stopper produced a string of crucial saves that kept his team in contention and ultimately sealed their place in the quarter-finals.

For his outstanding performance, Chipezeze walked away with prize money of R100,000. His side will now face Orlando Pirates in the last eight - a repeat of last season's final where the Warriors goalkeeper played a decisive role in guiding his team to their maiden top-flight league title.

The award comes at a crucial time for Chipezeze, who is expected to report for national duty on Monday. He will join the Warriors camp ahead of two FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against South Africa and Lesotho, with hopes high that his current form will translate into strong performances for the national side.
