Ten veterans of Zimbabwe's liberation struggle were remanded in custody yesterday after staging a demonstration in Harare last week.
The ex-combatants, including Rose Chirenje (65), appeared before Magistrate Tapiwa Kuhudzai, facing charges of participating in a gathering to promote public violence.
The group allegedly took part in a gathering called by Blessed Runesu Geza for the "One Million Men March," intended to protest against President Emmerson Mnangagwa for allegedly aligning with criminals and saboteurs.

The court heard that the demonstrators converged near Africa Unity Square, singing and dancing while denouncing alleged saboteurs. Police discovered stones and other missiles at the gathering site.

The magistrate remanded the ex-combatants in custody until October 27, with further investigations ongoing.
