The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has confirmed that it will appoint a new head coach for the national football team, the Warriors, within the next seven days following the dismissal of German coach Michael Nees.

Nees was relieved of his duties last night amid a string of poor results. Speculation has already surrounded potential replacements, with names such as Scotland gaffer Tonderai Ndiraya and assistant coach Kaitano Tembo being mentioned.

ZIFA president Nqobile Magwizi said the association is taking a methodical approach to the appointment.

"We have a committee that is working currently to come up with a roadmap with respect to the person's specification, the coach that will be coming to join.

"We need to have clarity as to what it is that we're looking for, so that will be presented all within the next three days. And, of course, the executive committee will then make a decision. Once those persons have presented their credentials, we'll then have to make a decision," Magwizi said.

The new appointment is expected to play a crucial role in preparing the Warriors for upcoming regional and international competitions.
