Police in Mashonaland West have launched a manhunt for a suspect who allegedly killed a man during a violent altercation over a game of pool at Dembo Business Centre in Kenzamba, Makonde District.

The fugitive, identified only as Denny, reportedly struck Norman Muteyaunga (38) on the head with a machete following a heated argument during the game.

Confirming the incident, Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) national spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the attack occurred on October 31, 2025.

"ZRP is investigating a case of murder which occurred on October 31, 2025, at Dembo Business Centre in Kenzamba, where a suspect only identified as Denny allegedly struck Norman Muteyaunga (38) once on the head with a machete following an altercation during a game of snooker (pool). The victim was rushed to Chinhoyi Hospital, where he died while admitted," said Commissioner Nyathi.

Police have since launched a manhunt for the suspect, who fled the scene after the attack.

The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) has repeatedly expressed concern over the rising number of violent crimes stemming from trivial disputes, urging citizens to resolve conflicts peacefully and uphold the sanctity of life.
