Zimbabwean referee gets AFCON call up

A Rusape-based referee has been named among the match officials for this month's Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), making him only the third Zimbabwean ever to officiate at the continental football tournament, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced.

The referee, a five-time Castle Lager Premiership Referee of the Year, received his latest domestic award on Friday night and will join Brighton Mudzamiri and Kenias Marange as the only Zimbabweans to have officiated at AFCON.

At the tournament, he is set to serve as a Video Assistant Referee (VAR), playing a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy of refereeing decisions during matches.
