408km of the Bulawayo - Victoria Falls road yet to be completed

A new 6.8-kilometre stretch of road in the Hwange area has been officially opened to traffic as of 17 December 2025, promising smoother and safer travel just in time for the festive season. The opening forms part of ongoing road improvement projects in the region, aimed at enhancing transportation infrastructure and reducing travel hazards.
With the latest section completed, a total of 32.1 kilometres of road have now been opened to traffic. Work by Bitumen World has contributed 20.9 kilometres, Fossil Contracting has completed 6.2 kilometres, while Syvern Investment has opened 5 kilometres. Other sections remain under construction, with a remaining 408.3 kilometres yet to be completed.
The project reflects the government’s continued commitment to improving road networks and ensuring safer and more efficient travel for commuters across Hwange and surrounding areas, particularly during the busy holiday period.
