ZESA assures consumers of stable power supply

Power utility ZESA has assured consumers that electricity supply will remain largely stable during the 2025 festive season, citing improved domestic generation, additional imports and reduced demand.

In a statement, ZESA said it anticipates minimal load shedding in December, creating a favourable environment for households, businesses and social activities. The utility attributed the positive outlook to increased generation from Hwange Power Station Units 1 and 2, improved output at Kariba Power Station and contributions from independent power producers.

ZESA also said additional electricity imports secured through the Southern African Power Pool will help cushion the national grid against any potential shortfalls. Electricity demand is expected to ease as some industries shut down or scale back operations during the holiday period.

The utility said its National Contact Centre will operate around the clock throughout the festive season, with technical teams on standby to attend to faults and emergencies.
