Reports circulating on social media platforms, particularly DeMbare DotComs, suggest that Zimbabwe's most successful football club, Dynamos FC, could be headed for a significant ownership shake-up that may alter the balance of power at the Harare giants.
According to the reports, Presidential Advisor Paul Tungwarara is seeking to become the majority shareholder of Dynamos Pvt Ltd. The club's shareholding structure currently places Bernard "Magitare" Marriott Lusengo in control with 51 percent, while Tungwarara holds the remaining 49 percent after previously buying out seven other shareholders.
Sources indicate that developments gathered pace on Tuesday following a high-level meeting held at Dynamos' offices at the National Sports Stadium. During the meeting, Tungwarara is reportedly pushing to acquire an additional two percent stake from Marriott, a move that would hand him majority control of the club.
As part of the proposed arrangement, Marriott is allegedly being offered an incentive package that includes a residential house, US$150 000 in cash and a monthly salary of US$3 000. The package is said to be designed to persuade him to part with the small but decisive shareholding that currently secures his control of Dynamos.
Should the deal go through, it would mark a major turning point in the governance of the Glamour Boys and could signal the beginning of a new chapter for the club, which has endured turbulent seasons marked by financial difficulties, administrative challenges and inconsistent performances on the pitch.
