Luton Town have confirmed that they have reached a mutual agreement to terminate the contract of Zimbabwean midfielder Marvelous Nakamba with immediate effect.

Nakamba first joined the club on loan from Aston Villa during the January transfer window of the 2022/23 season, making 20 appearances as Luton secured promotion to the Premier League. His contribution was highlighted by a memorable penalty in the Wembley shootout win over Coventry City, a moment that fans will not soon forget.

Following promotion, Nakamba returned to the club for pre-season training in Slovenia, this time signing a permanent three-year contract with Luton Town. He began the 2023/24 season strongly, making 14 appearances before a knee injury sustained while on World Cup qualifying duty with Zimbabwe sidelined him for the remainder of the campaign.

In total, Nakamba made 61 appearances for Luton Town, including 23 last term and four so far this season.

On behalf of the club, CEO Gary Sweet paid tribute to Nakamba, describing him as "a special character who came to add real quality at the time we needed it to help us to promotion." He added, "He has been a pleasure to have around the Club, always smiling, even through some tough times personally with injury. Everyone at Luton Town thanks Marv for his contribution in his three years at Kenilworth Road. He will always be a welcome visitor, and we wish him every success for his future career."

Nakamba leaves Luton Town having played a key role in their rise to the Premier League, leaving behind fond memories for both teammates and supporters.
